There’s nothing like a cold scoop of ice cream after a day in the sun on St. Croix. But where should you go when you’re craving something sweet and refreshing? Here’s a guide to four popular ice cream shops on the island—each with its own flavor, feel, and following.
🍨 Sorbetiere – My #1 Pick for Flavor
Locally made with love, Sorbetiere offers some of the best-tasting ice cream and sorbet on the island. From tropical fruit sorbets to rich, creamy ice cream flavors, the quality and care that goes into each batch is obvious. This small-batch creamery has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike—and it’s my personal favorite for flavor.
🍦 Cafe De La Creme – Charming & Reliable
Nestled in a cozy corner of Christiansted, Cafe De La Creme is a sweet stop for both ice cream and coffee. Their ice cream is solid—creamy, flavorful, and satisfying. It’s not as bold in flavor as Sorbetiere, but still a great spot to cool down with a scoop in hand while strolling the town.

🍧 Cream & Co. – Beautiful, Creative, but… Soupy?
Cream & Co. stands out immediately for its stunning storefront, creative flavor combinations, and aesthetic presentation. Located in a prime spot, it’s perfect for photos and a cool break from shopping. However, the ice cream tends to be a bit too soft—sometimes nearly melted—which detracts from the overall experience. If they ever fix the temperature issue, this place could easily jump to the top of the list.
🍦 Armstrong’s Ice Cream – Local Legacy, But Misses the Mark
Armstrong’s has been around for decades and is known by many long-time residents. But while it may have local legacy, I found the ice cream to be lackluster. The location is very basic, the customer service leaves much to be desired, and they don’t allow any samples—so it’s a bit of a gamble when choosing a flavor. With so many better options on island, this one just doesn’t stack up.

Final Scoop
If you’re just here for the best ice cream, head to Sorbetiere—hands down. If you want a cozy café feel with good ice cream and great atmosphere, try Cafe De La Creme. For a gorgeous shop and adventurous flavors, Cream & Co. might still win your heart (just eat it fast!). And if you’re curious about an old-school local shop, give Armstrong’s a try—but manage your expectations.
